PAZAZ™ Coming To A Theater Near You!

pazaz baking pan cooling rack

I created this brand, PAZAZ™ just over a year ago. The process prior to that took me through a learning curve that included but was not limited to Sales People, Manufacturers, Custom Brokers, Patent Attorney, Selling Platforms, Shipping, Accountant, and of course the all important Marketing.

When I thought of and created the brand I wanted something that spoke about a magical experience that helps author a special event. I enlisted the help of “Design Contest” to craft the logo. I told artists around the world what I wanted my product to say without being able to talk. This helped me to analyze the dialogue I wished to communicate, through the design of a logo, and thus formulate the brand image I wanted to fabricate.

The product itself was an exorcise in communicating dimensions, quality, and the all important integrity of this PAZAZ™ brand. I went through one hundred manufacturers, drilled that down to twenty and eventually five that sent me samples. Each product had its own challenges which included but were not limited to the grueling tests of repeated heat and cold application, and of course withstanding the dishwasher.

After all that attention to quality based upon my own extreme tests I was able to decide upon a manufacturer that checked all the boxes. The reason I’m telling you all this is quite simple. I have enlisted the help of a gentlemen that I’ve worked with before to market my brand. His name is Ravyn and he is an amazing person that is helping me film a video for all of you to enjoy.

This video incorporates not only a short introduction about my background in food and beverage, a couple recipes from my cookbook (which is included with the purchase of any of my PAZAZ™ products), and my PAZAZ™ table set up for wine pairing with these recipes. As a special surprise I have a treat I believe you will really enjoy.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you that have already purchased my PAZAZ™ products on Amazon, E-Bay, or at my web site, www.pazazshop.com. And for those that haven’t I can promise you one thing… if you need exceptional kitchen tools that will enhance your experience in the kitchen…you’ve come to the right place!

The Beauty Of Live Theater

“The Whole World’s A Stage and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.”

The “seven ages” according to experts analyzing Shakespeare’s thought process is as follows:

Infant, schoolboy/girl, lover, soldier, pantalone (someone at the top of his or her game/ social order), old age, and of course… death.

The reason I mention the above quote is because of it’s complexity illustrated in a wonderfully simplistic phrase, both poetic and truthful… One of the greatest thoughts ever expressed on stage.

As we wander down a path that seems to change with the ebbs and flows of people, places, and jobs… we add layers of flavor to our personas that many have called “the spice of life”. For some this analysis makes no sense because their comfort zone lies in the repetition of working, eating, sleeping, rinse and repeat.

But for me, life is a cabernet to be drunk slowly. Let us enjoy all the nuances of the people, places, and of course the amazing meals that connects to the unexpected daily tapestry written in a book illustrated by our dreams.

Having said all that there is nothing quite as relaxing, sometimes invigorating, and usually entertaining as live theatre (this is most certainly part of the above mentioned tapestry).

Nancy and I journeyed to go see “I Hate Hamlet” at the Festival Theatre during the Neil Simon Festival in Cedar City Utah. The Neil Simon Festival is relatively new and is the brain child of former principle member of the Tony award winning Cedar City Shakespeare Festival, Peter Sham.

Directed by Richard Bugg this play is set in modern times. In 1987 the playwright, Paul Rudnick, rented an apartment on the top floor of a Greenwich Village brownstone. He learned that John Barrymore had once lived in it and that he had renovated the space into, what the real estate ad described as a “medieval duplex”. A year later Rudnick felt compelled to write a play about both the apartment and the legacy of John Barrymore.

Barrymore’s interpretation of Hamlet is widely considered one of the best of all time. He was haunted by the character, just as the main character in this play, Andrew, is haunted by the ghost of Barrymore. Barrymore spent the rest of his life trying to match the power, grace, intensity, and impossible command of body language that he achieved in this performance.

The dialogue and interaction between Andrew (whom just got the part of Hamlet in a production in central park) and the ghost of Barrymore becomes much more than just a question of an actors portrayal or commitment. The story evolves into a question about choosing to pursue wealth or the honor and integrity of self-worth. At least once in our own lives we are faced with the same choice.

Take time to sip in the beauty around us and possibly that could include live theater. We are blessed to live in an age with so many events literally a click away. From enjoying a play, show, sporting event, or concert, and if the stars align just right, you may be taken beyond the time frame of the event and experience a long lasting memory.

Floyd, “The Wonder Dog”

Floyd, The Wonder Dog

Floyd is my daughters dog. He’s brought great joy to our family and especially to my daughter, Chelsea. To see the love and connection between her and him (the big dog) is a beautiful site to behold.

Floyd is a Great Pyrenees known as the Pyrenean Mountain Dog outside of North America. He’s a large dog around 120 pounds to be exact. Bred to protect coupled with a friendly disposition and kind face gives him a magnetic personality which is a conduit for most people to want to pet and cuddle with him. Most dogs become ice breakers for social interaction and Floyd is no exception.

When taking Floyd on a walk be prepared to be dragged in any direction he feels compelled to wander looking to pick up a scent, mark his territory, and then move on to the next destination. Usually his will is to not continue in the direction you’d like to walk but to form a new path in any direction but the one easily navigated by whomever is lucky enough to walk him that day. Usually Chelsea can be seen attempting to teach and train him to follow her path. This is not a task for the weak of heart, but perfect for her because of her strength of will.

And then there is the social interaction perfectly suited for Floyd “The Wonder Dog”. Recently at the Manitou Brewing Company Chelsea and I were having a brew and dinner. Almost every person that walked by either petted or wanted to pet Floyd. His smile is infectious and beholds a kind heart attesting to an old soul.

These steadfast guardians usually exhibit a pronounced calm but can quickly spring into action if their master is threatened in any way, shape, or form. Although they are intelligent, standard obedience training will be met with great indifference. They don’t see the point of all that sitting, heeling, and staying. They will reward your training by performing any task you deem important with an extremely slow response time.

Putting all that aside if you are lucky enough to meet Floyd you will become his friend. He has an engaging personality that is part dog but strangely enough… almost human. The advantage of course is that he can’t talk. He can bark and on occasion has been known to scare even the most casual observer.

My daughter calls him “a love bug” and that certainly is true. Once you’re in his presence he can easily become the center of attention (which he loves) smiling and wagging his big white tail until you are compelled to pet him. He is wise beyond his ears as his perception of good people and bad people is an artful representation of his overall disposition.

Most dog owners would agree that when you connect with a pet your life changes for the better. I know my daughter relishes the time she spends with Floyd. Over the course of the short time she’s had Floyd he has become a valuable part of our family sharing the unconditional love we all hold dear to our hearts.

Floyd is the “Wonder” dog because his love for those that care for him goes beyond most human interactions and becomes an integral part of our everyday lives engaging the best part of whom we are.

Bountiful Harvest and a Recipe – PAZAZ™ Style

Living a “Bountiful” existence includes the many facets of life integrated into a memoir that becomes a “Harvest” developed from dialog and connection forged in the memory bank of our mind.

Family, education, relationships outside the immediate inner circle, business, trips, and extraordinary events weave a tapestry of interesting stories that become the narrative of our lives.

Throughout this amazing journey we seek answers to questions that become riddles to be solved as we follow a path with twists and turns around a corner that reveals beginnings and endings.

The “Bountiful” life is nurtured by love and enriched by relationships that develop like a fine wine into friendships that last a life time. Many of us that read this blog will relate to those that fill our hearts. The joy and engagement within the beautiful nuances that exist between two people forming a shared history creates a bond only completely understood by those two spirits.

Have you ever had friends or family that you haven’t seen in “ages” and when you reconnect it’s like you spoke with them yesterday? That experience is a wonderful gift that catapults that relationship into the inner circle of trust formed years ago by the common memories of events we share.

Hopefully you are blessed to have at least one person in your life that enriches your existence and motivates your passion for living. That is when we can say we live a “Bountiful” life from the “Harvest” of the time spent cultivating those precious few relationships.
